What the checker looks at
- Your Meta PixelIs it there, which ID, is it started twice, and do PageView, ViewContent and AddToCart reach Meta?
- Double countingTwo plugins or apps that both send Meta events make purchases look better than they are.
- Google tagsGoogle Analytics 4, the Google Ads tag and Google Tag Manager, and old tags that do nothing now.
- Cookie consentIs there a cookie banner, and does the pixel wait for a yes? In the EU that is the law.
What no checker can see from outside
Purchases happen after checkout, and the Conversions API runs on your server. To check those, and to see the orders Meta never counted, install GrowViking (free).
Questions
Is the Tracking Checker free?
Yes. It is free, you need no account, and it never changes anything on your shop. It reads the same public pages any visitor sees.
How do I check my Facebook pixel?
Type your shop address above. We read your front page, one product page and the cart, find the Meta Pixel and the events it sends, and tell you in plain words what to fix.
Can the checker see my purchases and the Conversions API?
No. Purchases happen after checkout and the Conversions API runs on your server, so nobody can see them from outside. GrowViking can check them once you install it (free).
Why does Meta show fewer purchases than my shop?
Usually because cookie choices, ad blockers and iPhone privacy stop the pixel in the browser. The Conversions API sends each order from your server as well, so Meta sees more of them.
What does "the same pixel starts twice" mean?
Your pixel is added in two ways, for example by your theme and by a plugin. Then Meta can count each purchase twice, and your ads look better than they are.
Do I need a cookie banner for the Meta Pixel?
In the EU, yes. The pixel must wait until the visitor says yes to marketing cookies. The checker shows whether your pixel seems to wait.
